e-News February 2010

Happy February and welcome back everyone.

It's proving to be a spectacular summer in Auckland (sorry Wellington, Gisborne and Dunedin…) and there are some excellent reasons to get out and explore.

I personally recommend a ferry ride to Waiheke and a visit with the Gows at the Connells Bay Sculpture Park. There is always new work and It get's better every year.

If you prefer to stick to dry land, you can head south and catch the last days of the Stoneleigh Sculpture exhibition at the Botanical Gardens in Manurewa (finishes 14 February).

Another fine way to spend a summer day (or 3) is SPLORE, the biennial festival of arts, performance and music staged in the exquisite Tapakapanga Regional Park south of Auckland from 19 - 21 Feb.

If you've managed to get that far, you may as well continue over the hills and head for Hamilton where, from 12 February, you can see  I must learn to like myself, a recent survey of work by Richard Lewer at the Waikato Museum.

Hope to see you in one of the exotic locales above and below this month.
